EmuCR: ePSXe ePSXe v2.0.5 is released. ePSXe is a Sony Playstation emulator for your PC running under Win9x/2k/xp or linux. It takes advantage of the popular PSEmu Pro plugin system.

ePSXe v2.0.5 Changelog:

- Updated the x86 recompiler to use the same recompiler than in the rest of versions (Android, Linux x64, Mac ...). Now it should be easier to fix problems in all versions.
- Ported the local netplay from Android (Experimental). This version is compatible using local netplay with the rest of ePSXe versions from the version 2.0.5 (MacOSX, Linux x86, Linux x64 and Android - version 2.0.6). (Additional info the epsxe docs)
- Ported the GPUCORE threading mode from the Android version. The PC CPUs are faster than Android CPUs, so it will improve less FPS. (This option is better when the CPU is slower).
- Added new threading modes to the Pete OpenGL2 Core Plugin. It includes a basic 2-thread mode, and 2 extra modes adding soft/hardware effects. (It could improve some effects, for example the burning photo on the start of Castlevania)
- In the INPUTCORE plugin, swapped the vibration actuators when using the Xinput mode (to match to real PSX Left/Right). Besides when using a gamepad in digital mode, now you can use the left stick as the dpad.
- Fixed the >2GB PBP roms support. Now it should be able to run the PSX2PSP isos bigger than 2GB as Final Fantasy VIII PSP pack.
- Fixed the cheat codes support when running on the interpreter mode.
- Added a new option in the cheat codes window to download cheat codes from the ePSXe version (Thanks to psxdatacenter.com)
- Fixes to the core which made more games playable or better working. (WING COMMANDER IV, MONKEY HERO)

  2. ok guys I spent all day on this and finally figured it out. I was getting crashes too, on multiple machines, in multiple operating systems (all pretty freshly installed, one never even had epsxe installed and ran fine once then crashed from that point on). after thorough manual and third party registry cleanings, I finally figured out a trick to make it work on any OS (I think, I dual boot win 7 and 10 on every machine, and 10 is my preferred OS for epsxe, this works on both).

1.) click start button (search bar in 10)
    2.) type regedit.exe > enter
    3.) navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\epsxe
4.) delete this key (no reboot required, on either OS)
    5.) launch epsxe.exe 2.0.5

pretty sure it's working at that point. but possibly the next two steps required too

6.) click skip config (and don't worry about selecting bios, if it's in the folder epsxe will automatically select the good one--scph1001--instead of HLE, even if you skip config)
7.)run any game with default sound, video, and input plugins at default settings
8.) done. now it will be working with whatever plugins and settings you want
9.) if the crash happens again, repeat these steps

    1. When deleting the key, do I delete the (epsxe folder) or the (config folder) that drops down or just the (files in the config folder)? I don't want to mess up. Please explain.

    3. I did what you said, I open regedit, deleted the epsxe folder, skipped the config & it still did work. I have the epsxe v202-1,
epsxe v200 & they work fine but this one will not work for me.

    4. yep, the whole key. it's automatically re generated when you launch and configure epsxe so no biggie. and if you're worried about it you could backup your registry with ccleaner.exe

if none of this gets 2.0.5 working for you, don't worry. I think I've determined that it's too glitch to run more than once w/ the core plugin anyway. just use the most recent version that worked. if you were interested in better performance from this release, don't worry. it's just as slow as the other ones, I checked. lol

  3. p.s. if you find it's still not working at that point, you may need zlib1.dll, and whatever visual c++ graphics packs, directx9, god knows what else. if that's too confusing, do what I do and follow this:

these days I just use this german package called "all in one runtimes." it installs all that crap that should already be installed in windows to make various emulators and games function properly without having to worry about which graphical API you need installed every single time you find a new emulator or game or website that won't run correctly.

    here's that:

    http://www.computerbase.de/downloads/systemtools/all-in-one-runtimes/

(just click the red download button there twice. no tricky spam). and you may find it makes your other emulators work too.

    have fun! =)

    1. I think it because I have a previous epsxe v200 conflicting with the new version. The old one still works but, the new version will not even load the bios (run bios) or games (run iso)it just goes to a black sreen.

    2. yeah. it seems to be a glitch with the new core plugin. which is no surprise because it was all about android and multithreading. it always seems to crash upon second use after deleting that registry key or from fresh OS install.

and run bios hasn't worked for me ever since I switched to a computer without a disc drive (perhaps this is the same issue for you?). when I have my external DVD rewriter connected, or if I create a virtual drive from daemon tools, then run bios works just fine.

so, if you really want 2.0.5, follow my guide above. just don't expect the new core plugin to run more than once without crashing (before you have to follow those steps again to delete the epsxe registry key). I noticed if I switched to a different video plugin on first run (after deleting the reg key as descrived above) it will stay working, so that's why I think it's the core plugin screwing things up.

for me, I am using the gpuPeopsOpenGLxBRZ plugin (pete's 1.78 modded with xBRZ pixel filter) because that plugin + gldirect + tridef is the only way I know to get epsxe to run stereoscopic 3d (and the pixel filters are cool!). so I am sticking with 2.0.5. since I won't be using the core plugin.

you should be using the core plugin. just revert to 2.0.2-1, which worked perfectly fine. I will probably be using that version on my laptop. because crash upon 2nd use is B.S. ... not going to delete a registry key every time I play lol...

and that's all I know! if anyone else has a better seteroscopic 3d configuration for psx emulation, or if anyone has a trick to get the 2.0.5 core plugin running consistently please enlighten us :)

    4. It will not work for me because the bios will not load. I have zlib.dll, visual c++ 2015 & DX9, DX10, DX11 & DX12 installed on my computer. I even repaired my visual c++ in my programs.

    5. you're using scph1001? the hle bios never worked for me either.

    6. Yeh, it sucks the plugins don't work properly. I hope that's fixed on the next epsxe v205/?? build. I have all lot of plugins that I like to mess with on different games & all the regional bios. None of the bios work!

    7. SCPH1001.BIN, SCPH3000.BIN & the rest of them.

    8. sadness :( I got them working. I think I noticed that if you manually select scph1001, it won't work for some weird reason. but from a fresh registry if you skip config and don't select the bios, and let it automatically choose scph1001 (which it will do if you have it in the bios folder), then it worked for me (step 6 above). possibly skip step 7 and switch directly to your preferred video plugins. try again or stick with the working version. honestly I haven't noticed anything new in ps1 emulation for like 15 years so you're fine w/ 2.0.2-1 XD

epsxe has been updated more frequently in the past year or two than the previous 10 years combined so I think we'll see a new version soon-ish. gl~

    9. I use gpuPeteDX6D3D.dll because I can choose my GFX card.

    10. I think someone needs to do more work on the all plugins because the options to choose a aspect-ratio 4.1 is not in all of the plugins & the one that your using (gpuPeopsOpenGLxBRZ plugin) is playing games real fast I tried the fps limiter, it doesn't seem to work.

      Delete
    11. dx6d3d is ancient. and I'm pretty sure the newer plugins autodetect your card. and you have to click "auto-detect fps/frame skipping limit" radio button next to the "use fps limit" checkbox. or you can manually click a number (60). you are running at 200 fps by default which is ridiculous. I agree the plugins need some work. lol. but they have already put a lot of work into them and we do have options.

    12. I got gpuPeteOpenGL2.dll working with (pete_ogl2_guest_shaders_v1 4xGLSLHqFilter shader) in epsxe v2.02.1. The other (gpuPeopsOpenGLxBRZ plugin) I had to turn off v-synk to get the game to slow down it work now too. Thanks for your help!

  6. For those peoples that have "crash" trying to load bios or games:

    Open ePSXe 2.0.5
    Options > CPU Overclocking > Select x1
    Done.
