OpenMSX Git (2016/07/11) is complie. OpenMSX is an open source MSX emulator which is free according to the Debian Free Software Guidelines, available under the GNU General Public License. For copyright reasons the emulator cannot be distributed with original BIOS ROM images. OpenMSX includes C-BIOS a minimal implementation of the MSX BIOS, allowing to play quite some games without the need to have an original MSX BIOS ROM image. You can also use your own BIOS ROM image if you please.
OpenMSX Git Changelog:
* Another intermediate update of the release notes.
* Tweak the DC-filter in WavImage
Revision 1b0a59f22423c3 changed the filter to make "Jet Fighter.wav" work.
Unfortunately this also broke several tapes that did work before.
I tried quite a few different approaches: various bandpass filters (1-pole, or
more sophisticated), with cutoff frequencies reverse engineered from some real
MSX electrical cassette circuits, with or without Schmitt-trigger and even with
or without automatic gain control. Unfortunately I was unable to find a
combination in which all tapes load correctly.
Because of this we decided, at least for now, to make only a small change that
fixes the know regressions. More in detail, we changed the cutoff-frequency of
the high-pass filter (= the DC filter) from 1400Hz to 800Hz.
* Added Toshiba HX-23F and HX-23 configuration thanks to FRS
FRS submitted these. He got a real HX-23F and created its config by looking at
the PCB and running test programs.
The HX-23 is very similar to the HX-23F. We assume here that the ROMs are
identical, which is also hinted by the blueMSX configuration of that machine.
