GameEx v13.00

EmuCR:GameEx GameEx v13.00 is released. GameEx is a graphical DirectX based front-end for MAME, Zinc, Daphne, PC Games, and all command line based game emulators, along with being a good Home Theatre PC solution. It also makes a good CarPC and touchscreen frontend. The original goal was for it to be used on Windows XP Media Center and Arcade Cabinets although it will run on any version of Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and Vista. For just $17 (USD) you can too unlock the full potential of the front end.

GameEx v13.00 Changelog:
This is only an incremental minor version release and fixes a potential security issue and plugin events not running in the screensaver.

  2. I thought all this emulator stuff was FREE. Why can't you use regular channels for hocking this stuff.

There are many FREE and better utilities that do the same thing as this and just because this guy wants money for his product doesn't mean your experience or regular updating will be any better.

I know of front ends that have been around since the 80's and the people responsible are STILL updating them and they are STILL FREE. Mainly because emulators are community projects and use freely distributed code.

If this guy is 100% HIS code to sell is one thing but if he even uses ONE library from another source then he has no right to sell this product.

  4. Bob makes a valid point. Why isn't GameEx completely free?

There are other frontends such as hyperspin, mala, mGalaxy and xbmc that are free. Then there are the emulators themselves, with the vast majority being free. It seems strange then that GameEX is not free.

Is there any particular reason why GameEX is the exception to this?
