SSF Test Version (13/01/05) is released. SSF is a Sega Saturn emulator for Windows systems using DirectX 9.0b. The current version claims near-complete implementation of the Sega Saturn hardware (not counting emulation bugs), and can emulate the Saturn based Sega Titan Video arcade hardware too. As with most emulators, CDs or disc images are not included and have to be owned separately. The BIOS is also not included; as of 0.07 Beta R3, games run without the BIOS however. The usage of BIOS files is optional but recommended for better compatibility, and needed for tasks such as management of the contents of the internal memory of the Sega Saturn, or setting the system clock.

I love this emulator, but this author is obsessed with beta/alpha/test versions.
ReplyDeleteI mean, looking at the name "SSF v0.12 Beta R3" you would think this emulator is in it's early dev stage & only capable of running homebrew. Yet, this emulator is very advanced, capable of running almost all Saturn games extremely well, better than any Saturn emulator out there.
I totally agree, this emulator is near 100% totally emulated, is at 95% now, and has quite a while since last update, i wonder if the author got bored with this emulator, yabause still so bad emulated even after years.
DeleteIm just waiting a fix for Deep Fear sound issue, my fav game, this sound scratchs makes the game unplayable just becaus ethe sound x-x
What's the version in the VS2012 folder about?
ReplyDeleteThe last few test versions had some weird flickering issue i couldn't get rid of.
ReplyDeleteAlso re yabause: It's actually come a very long way and actually runs games. It also enables higher resolutions than native too. Still has some way to go but it's getting there.
Stop complaint and be thankful that this is still alive and kicking.. Be patient. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen you go to their official site and download the test version... how do you know what build it is? How does EMUCR know what version it is?
