EmuCR: ePSXe ePSXe v1.8.0 is released. ePSXe is a Sony Playstation emulator for your PC running under Win9x/2k/xp or linux. It takes advantage of the popular PSEmu Pro plugin system.

ePSXe v1.8.0 Changelog:

- Added cheat codes support. Now ePSXe support Gameshark cheat codes. See
the Cheat Code section below to get information on how to use it.

- Added support for disc images in PBP format. It supports compressed images, and
multi-disc images (a list of images is shown when you choose a multi-disc pbp).
This doesn't support encrypted files.

- Added subchannel support using SBI files from redump.org. To get it working
with isos the SBI file has to be renamed with the same filename as the image
(except the extension, for example .bin to .sbi) and be located in the same folder.
To get it working in cdroms, you need to put the SBI file in directory patches,
with the PS-EXE name of the game and ".sbi" at the end of the name.
(example: SLES_99.999.SBI). Be carefull, ".sub" has priority over ".sbi",
so if you prefer to use the ".sbi" file, remove/move ".sub" to another folder.

- Fixed changedisc feature, which was broken in 1.7.0, and added fixes to
support changedisc in more games that were not previously working.

- The internal SPU plugin has been updated to the 1.8.0 version. This
version includes multiples fixes and add compatibility with a lot of
sound effects that were not properly supported before. Thanks goes to
Shalma and Tikalat. The following games work better in this release:
Um Jammer Lammy, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Xenogears,
Vagrant Story, Misadventures of Tron Bonne, Spyro 2 & 3, Vib Ribbon,
Discworld Noir, Tales of Destiny, Extreme Ghostbuster,
South Park Chef's Luv Shack, Silhouette, Thousand Arms, Adidas Power Soccer ...

- Added better support to change memcards on the fly (Dragon Warrior 7,
Star Ocean 2, Valkyrie Profile ...). This includes a
better detection by the games. You can also disable the memcards
in the configuration screen (needed in Lifeforce Tenka). Thanks goes to
Shalma and Tikalat.

- Improved dual shock, mouse, guncon, multitap emulation (vibration on
multitap not supported). Mouse is working again in the Pad2 (Quake),
and multitap is working in more games like Frogger 2, Rampage 2 and
Crash Bash. Thanks goes to Shalma and Tikalat.

- Better support for CDDA in games, more games which had CDDA in the
previous version work now. It also adds better RepPlay, and
AutoPause support.

- Some games with GPU status problems are detected and auto-activate the
required options in the GPU. These games don't work if you use PEC.
The list of affected games includes: To heart, Ishin No Arashi,
Dukes hazzard Racing for Home, Hot wheels: turbo racing, U.P.P.
Thanks goes to gladiator.

- Added support for savestates in some game which didn't work in the previous
version because it was unable to find the game code name. It now generates
a game code name for the game like SLU_XX.XXX.

- Fixes to the CD-Rom decoder and the core which made almost 150 more games
playable or working better like. For example this fixed Shaman king,
Arcade Pack (Rampage), Virtual Pool 3, Heart of Darkness, Eldergate,
Blue's Clues - Blue's Big Musical, Carnage Heart EZ,
Simple 1500 Series Vol 006 - The hanafuda, Roswell Conspirancies - Level 7,
Armored Core - Master of Arena, Digital Figure Iina, My Dream / On Air...

- Note: for information about compatibility and games's configuration,
it is recommended that you visit the "Playstation Datacenter" at
http://psxdatacenter.com/. We want to thank Gladiator who has
been a very important help in betatesting the new version.

  1. Nossa quantos anos não tinha um update desse emulador! Deve estar um perfeito PSOne agora. =D

    1. There are much much better PS emulators than ePSXe. POPS from Sony is the most accurated yet, in PC Xebra is, by far, the most accurated. And Mednafen core is the third. ePSXe is, maybe, the fourth.

    2. Get FUCKED !!

POPS ? Is it on PC ? No. It's a freakin' PSP plugin.

Xebra ? Yeah, good luck getting that thing to do anything at all.

Mednafen ? Lol. Horrible piece of junk, with a god-awful interface.

ePSXe, is the best, period. Great interface, great compatibility.

    3. What a moron ...

POPS is the codename of the Playstation Portable PS emulator (just check the internal files). The plugin that the scene developed is called Popsloader.

Xebra is easy to use, you are just dumb.

Mednafen is a command line emulator, like a lot of emulators. If you are so dumb to understand it, it doesnt make it bad. Sorry.

ePSXe have worse accuracy and horrible timming in some games.

    4. AnimalBear

Nop. Its the most accurated and optimized. The timming is almost perfect in some games that dont work well in Xebra (and work bad on ePSXe).

Sony did a very great work with POPS (well ... they developed the Playstation).

    5. Stranno, you compare a psp to pc version?
If you said that, please no.
But if POPS is from PC version, i will go check it out.

    6. As far as PSX emulation is concerned, there are no winners. I honestly prefer ePSXe over many others because it's the easiest to use (start, load iso done), and most stable (aka most working hacks, least bugs) compared to PCSX and other plugin based cousins. It still has countless flaws that annoy me, but I still enjoy playing the games most on it more than others.

pSX still has bugs. Xebra is not user friendly at all, it's not meant for casual play. POPS requires a PSP...

Also, ePSXe 1.8.0 doesn't seem to be such a big leap from 1.7. But it's a much welcomed update. I have yet to discover everything :)

  4. EPSXE is the far far superior emulator it it has the best speeds the best accuracy and the best compatibility and easy to use.

ZEBRA compatibilty is not as good as epsxe well not now it is not, plus it is far too hard to setup worse interface ever in an emulator.

POPS is only for psp and not pc and that emulator is a stinking turd of an emulator the compatibility is shit.

MEDNAFEN is horrible as well command line emulators should now be a thing of a past it un intuitive bad compatibility horrible interface and shitty timing it is the worse ps emulator

The only emulator to come close epsex is pcsx reloaded and pcfxin and there far away from the greatness of epsex.

    1. Wow, so POPS is good because is optimized? OMG Stranno, you compare PSP to PC.
      Thanks Bazza.

    2. Psxfin works perferctly with Chrono Cross.
Epsxe ( and pcsx-r too ) has a lot slow-downs and sound issues.

  5. One thing i can´t heard is Winning Eleven 98-99 Music and Sound in the start game and the menu game. Only works the menu sound on PSP. LOL!

  6. 1.8.0 version in linux!? In Windows is the best now. Psxfin and Pcsxr is alternatives...

  7. I got this to work. You can't use any opengl plugin, only directX and opengl 2 work.

    hope this helps someone.

    =)

  8. Audio is still broken, you can't change options without resetting the entire emulator, and there're ads on the main screen now. You're much better off using Xebra/PSXfin/PCSX.

    1. On psxfin, the sound works good, there is the part we can´t play the game right.

For those have problems with games like MK Trilogy, use the Mooby2 cd disk image driver 2.8 ;)

  9. The best setup for this emulator is this well this works great for me.

Graphics plugin= petes open gl 2.9

    Sound plugin= Eternal 1.50

    CD plugin= mooby 2.8

    Bios scph 1001 or 7502

    1. Bazza i don´t have Oprn GL 2.9 and Bios 7502, i need to find all the complete pack.
      Cheers!

  10. For people who want to know the optimum plugin configuration for the king of PSX emulators, here it is:

Video: edgbla's Software Rendering Plugin or Pete's OpenGL 2.9.

Audio: Internal SPU 1.8.0 or Eternal 1.41 (not 1.50 beta it has bugs).

CD: Internal 1.8.0 CD or cdrVirus 1.7.

Don't argue about which emulator is 'better' because pSX/Xebra are not PSEmu PRO plugin based and dont allow video/audio upscaling, ePSXe is the only one that is still maintained that supports these features.

    Have fun gaming!

    1. I have to disagree with you.
      Pcsx-r is still maintained...

    2. True I forgot about PCSX-R, but through benchmarking I determined that ePSXe performs better with lower CPU/RAM usage and has higher compatibility.

      Delete
    3. Further testing reveals that edgbla's soft plugin is very heavy on resources and only gives a negligible increase in image quality, making Pete's OGL2 2.9 hardware driver the weapon of choice again!

Also Eternal SPU should now be retired as the internal SPU in ePSXe 1.8 is based on the latest P.E.Op.S DSound release with all of Shalma's 'Shark' patches included, making it far superior and also supports proper interpolation.

To clarify my last statement about CDR plugins I should remind you all that cdrVirus is a continuation of cdrMooby 2.8 which has long since been abandoned, I would also consider using cdrSaPu 1.3 which is another excellent alternative, although I use all internal plugins except for Pete's OGL2 2.9 for GPU :)

      Delete
    4. I think that Pete's softgpu 1.18b is much better choice, then all other opengl or direct3d plugins.
I have only 2 problems with the soft gpu ( no bilinear filtering, no 4:3 fullscreen mode ), and i have a lot of problems with the other plugins.
But, i am using psxfin 1.13, because it has only 1 problem ( no 4:3 fullscreean mode )

  11. I personally prefer psxfin-yes it has bugs, but no need for plugins, least cpu intensive (could probably run full speed on a donkey 1200Ghz PC)-developer clearly had something beyond the other developers skillset- maybe assembler coding. Full save state and memory card support and even multi language features. The developer has been in the dark, but I once heard PS2 implimentation was in consideration for psx114. I was excited to hear that wondering if he could beat the system requirements of the famed PCSX2. But its been years-Sony probably bought him off.Oh well.

    1. Oops. Meant 1200Mhz-not quite there yet. My 1200Ghz PC emulates the Chrysler Building. W-T-F@#$!!?

    2. I prefer Psxfin mainly due to the much simpler and productive interface. You can change a game on the fly or even configure plugins. On Epsxe you need to close the program first.

  12. PCSX Reloaded is my favorite, mainly due to the widescreen hack it has.

  13. For a more accurate emulation I use RetroArch (mednafen core) + a curved CRT shader. It looks quite good.

  16. In my country, data package charges are very expansive. I've downloaded that shitt.zip using my 100MB over data. It costs nearly 2 USD. I've lost my money if that shitt is uninstallable.
