  3. @Ryukoken: While SSF certainly has better compatibility, Yabause is open source.

  4. And SSF never finish the perfect emulation?

  5. Open source means jack if the emulator is poor.

SSF is in a different league to this junk. I mean, how many years has this been going ? And it still junk.

  6. If SSF's developer would die tomorrow, there would not be any new versions ever. It might work today in Windows 7, but will it work in 10 years on the latest hardware and OS?

  7. So many short-sighted people. Emulation is important for hardware preservation. A closed-source emulator doesn't contribute to this at all. All it does is give some people a temporary way to play free games. Believe it or not, but there will come a time when it's virtually impossible to obtain a working Sega Saturn system.

  8. Now I'm not condemning SSF, its author or its users in any way. It's your freedom to give your software whatever license you wish, and to use whatever you want. But emulators like Yabause still have more value on the long term, since after all, if the author stops developing SSF, that's the end of it. You will have to stick with the same hardware and software configuration in order to continue using it and its code won't contribute anything to preserving the Sega Saturn.

  9. SSF does not work right with Rayman but Yabause does!
So, I use both emus to increase the compability range.

  10. i use both, i have a folder like these
    C:/games/emulators/sega/saturn/yabause

  11. I have to say, I've dabbled in both SSF and Yabause for years, and Yabause has always been a big disappointment... I love open source, but if nobody is going to do anything with it except useless ports to systems like the Wii then what's the point? SSF plays games, and it plays most of them with few to no flaws. I get preservation, but ultimately being able to play the games is the most important thing to preserve, IMO.

  12. @Rich: You have a point there, but if SSF's development stops, we will have to preserve the ability to use SSF somehow as well. A Sega Saturn emulator inside an x86 emulator running Windows 7 would suck I think.

  13. Nobody downloads emulators just because they're open source, people download emulators to play games. But I notice some twit had to get "Free" games in there, I own most of my games, if I paid for the rest the only ones benefiting from any sale are Ebay sellers, not any publisher.
Lastly, if SSF stops development then 1. We do NOT know if he open sources it from then on, and 2. it is not like the binaries are going anywhere, SSF already plays most Saturn games perfect, far superior than Yabause ever could achieve.
And what if Yabause authors stop, it still needs someone to take over, of nobody is interested then it dies. Simple. See you in 5 years, Yabause.

  17. Run Burning Rangers?

  18. Burning Rangers runs fine except for a very small slowdown that's almost not even noticeable.

  19. Sorry! I just realized I was thinking of SSF. I'm not sure how it runs on Yabause.

  20. we may support the emulator, you should get updates more often and more often correct bugs and optimize it!
