PCSX2 SVN r4943

EmuCR:PS2 emulatorPCSX2 SVN r4943 is released. PCSX2 is an open source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. With the most recent versions, many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations have made play-to-completion tests for many games impractical), and several games are claimed to have full functionality.

PCSX2 SVN Changelog:
r4943
GSdx: Corrected the line data terminator for psx games (fixes wild arms 2).

  5. The changes here are for Gsdx, the default GPU plugin in PCSX2. You can use this plugin with PS1 emulators as well as PCSX2.

  6. this changes for pcsxr. gsdx plugin files & sdl.dll(exist same directory in pcsx2) copy in your pcsxr directory. you can use a gsdx plugin but, it's too fast.

Basically it's because we can. :D

Also setting aside my personal opinion/preference of pcsx2 over actual ps2 for numerous reason that I won't bother going over again.

Because it's more accessible. You actually do not spend money on emulator itself and that expensive as you said pc of "ours" is never ever bought for that sole purpose, henceforth it's just another joy of being a pc gamer. More importantly, setting aside the issue of piracy, it's a lot easier to find ps2 games via pc than to find original discs for the ps2, I meant actually possible in some cases.

So basically you just came here to troll yourself (not necessarily this thread more like EmuCR). Nice. And the overheating CPU deal. Veri fani!

    @ "rest"

I'm interested in it myself (concerning pcx deal). Even though there are similarities within the name itself and the devs. I was almost completely sure pcsx2 as itself was a completely new project (contrary to it being built upon pcsx). And about what Christopher said, will try out on 3 games that I possess. Doubt I'll get any significant results but it'll be fun to try out. Should google that to see what's up with that.

And yeah, gsdx is pretty old plugin but I doubt it's the same as the one for pcsx2, at least I don't recall it seeing the same GUI (or similar).

    @ Anon 7

I believe there are frame caps within gsdx or even pcsx for that.

    @ Christopher

Did you see the Bulldozer reviews. I was so disappointed and sad about that, cause I was thinking about getting one big nice bulldozer, possibly with a flamethrower or maybe a rocket launcher.

Nevertheless I'm getting (hopefully) by the end of this month an i5 2500k. I feel ashamed. XD
Am really interested in how well it will do with MTVU. As I recall you got some really nice results. Cheers! ;)

Why people come here to say real consoles are much better than emulation? You do realize this site is about emulation don't you? People come here because they're interested in, guess what, emulation and not in some useless advice about how great the real console is!

By all means keep playing your dusty console till it blows up and go to console heaven. I guess it's more fun than posting BS here.

  9. @ Goran i5 2500k kicks ass.Intel as of late is really putting AMD to shame.the bulldozer clocks in slower then the phenom its replacing!sure you might save a few bucks with AMD but in the long run, when the intel lasts longer then the AMD,it all pays off in the end.

@ everyone usually the people who knock emulation are the ones still running a PIII 633mhz.thats why they always knock emulation

here is one HUGE reason why pcsx2 is better then a actual ps2: save states.enough said

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yep save states really caught my eye when i very first heard about it, also uncapping the frame-limiter to get past scenes of games I've played and beat before was always a nice feature as well. Not to mention, how i don't have to worry about the "eye" of my ps2 breaking like the rest of my ps2's did lol

  11. Hahaha lol i'm Anon 6 and i expected that you'll throw your hate on me but its ok and just i want to say i'm a pc gamer since 1994 my first pc and im a huge fan of emulation since i played atari2600 games on pc or gameboy games on dos ...its funny when some words could make human beings so agressive ...i did not insult anybody i guess maybe i know more much emulators than you guys i'm 32 and i play games since 1987 ...and i have i7 8gb ram and 2gb gpu ;)
chill out guys agressive gamers never win ^^
(and sorry for my bad english)

Concerning CPU, yeah IMO for the price it's a no brainer. While I don't really like Intel's deal with chipsets on the other hand I won't be replacing it anytime soon. I mean anywhere I see i5 2500k is only being immensely prayed. It's just that I've been sticking with the underdog for a very long time.

Concerning pro's. I'll put it shortly: save-states, cheats(via "value" searching), dealing with ISO's, prettier graphics, accessibility, taking screenshots and recording video/audio, able to run regardless of NTSC/PAL or you region or *BIOS, resolution of your choice, controls of your choice, memory cards = infinite, much faster loading, you can do pretty much anything and run pcsx2 alongside it(I have two monitors so I run pcsx2 on one, and have a walkthrough in some cases on the other, just a lame example), skip scenes and uncap framerates.... and the list goes on, cause I always forget to include a few.

Also I did saw the benches on clock per clock versus phenom II. It's really a shame. Well those hexa-cores were still nice at least.

    @ Anon 13

It's not that we (or me specifically saying cause I was amongst those that replied to your bs) are agressive or are throwing hate. It's just I don't really like trolls and I only replied as I don't like the idea of idiotic non-sense like yours spreading around so I just like to debunk any troll/flame statements if I'm not bored. And no, assuming you are #6 you didn't really piss anybody of, you just simply failed since almost everybody here is used to trolling around here.

Yeah and I'm 152 and I know more about emu than any of you. Prove me wrong. I also have 2 990x and 32 GB of RAM and two 590 GTX's. Impressive isn't it... It's NOT. :p

P.S. I just wouldn't like the electricity bill on that thing. XD Nothing short of 1500W would satisfy. lol

    ReplyDelete
  13. EDIT: And I forgot to include the most important pro.... It's FREE! You can't beat that one.

    ReplyDelete
  14. yeah, still, it cost a lot of bucks build compatible pc to play this emu

    ReplyDelete
  15. Its not free Goran H. You ned to spend at least $600 dollars to run games at a decent speed, and lets not talk about HD and pretty stuff you would need to throw another $200 there, so just for this time BE FUCKING REAL AND STOP BEING DELUSIONAL

  16. im anon 6 and anon 13

    that's damn right .
i'm a girl and i wont spend all of my money to play games i already played
pcsx2 is hungry more than gta 4 O_o !!! thats crazy

  18. YOU KNOW WHATS ANOYING WITH PCSX2 AFTER EVERY NEW BUILD THEY TRY TO FIX A GAME AND THEY MESS UP ANOTHER
SO WE NEED TO DOWNLOAD EVERY BUILD AND PLAY EACH GAME WITH ITS MATCHING BUILD LOL

    ReplyDelete
  19. Guys, once again, everyone is entitled to their opinions.

YES, you do need a decent pc to run pcsx2 decently. BUT emulator itself is free, AND it's not like anyone is gonna buy a new pc just for pcsx2. :p So.

And to other whiners, you don't have to buy a decent pc, you don't have to use pcsx2. But just stop for a second and think about something. Compare it to every other emu there is, and you'll see that in most cases pcsx2 runs way better for what it is (ps2 emu). So stop bitchin' and drink your milk. :p
Or you know, buy a pc that isn't pre-2005 and you'll play most games decently.
    Regards.

  20. @Goran H: stop acting like your one of the dev's working on pcsx2 and know everything there is to know about this emulator. shut the fuck up and get out of here already.

  21. Oh you are so sweet being angry like that... so funny.

Actually I check on EmuCR two or three times daily for a minute or two, enough to check on things laugh at silly comments and maybe comment myself. I comment on other stuff of my interest when I need to but as even a biggest moron can see pcsx2 threads are BY FAR more active than any other.

P.S. I know I shouldn't bother with you guys, but you're so funny like that. :)
