PCSX2 SVN r4829 is released. PCSX2 is an open source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. With the most recent versions, many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations have made play-to-completion tests for many games impractical), and several games are claimed to have full functionality.
PCSX2 SVN Changelog:
r4829
newGif: send complete gs primitive packets to the gs plugin even if eop wasn't detected. this is needed for games that do GS->EE downloads to make sure the gs plugin is up-to-date with the sent gif data.
fixes Bleach bankai problem, and probably other games (wizardry/growlancer 3) but haven't tested...
Also removed a vif FlushA hack that used to be needed for tekken 4/gitaroo man but not anymore...

I see no speedup in GOW2 comparing with priv. versions(using or not speedhacks, playing with preferences etc.) I mean its cool, stable, no bugs or crashes but is average 40fps a limit? Is there any way to gain a speedup in a higher resolution or we talking about only native one?
ReplyDeleteuseless
ReplyDeletealways the big crap
ReplyDeletedumbass you need a powerful pc to play games to get 60fps or more you need at least 3,4 ghz or more to get fullspeed
ReplyDeleteI wonder when guetto PCs owners will finally give up on PS2 emulation...
ReplyDeleteGhetto PC owners should stick with NeoRAGEx ;)
ReplyDeletethey will be faster, you need to have patience
ReplyDeleteOn 90% of the games I have and have played they run at 55-60fps non stop. There's only 2 game series that I own that I have trouble with and that's Madden and the GoW series as the original poster stated.
ReplyDeleteNow then, to the ignorant comments that follows, these revisions aren't for the average user. Just because you can download them doesn't mean you know ANYTHING about how the program works and why the revisions have changed. Not to mention on TOP of that, this site isn't PCSX2's bug report, or complaint section. This is a site that offers the newest revisions of emulators for download and that is all.
And for another fyi to all. My PC isn't top of the line, for crying out loud the main PC I game on is a laptop. There's a 1.6GHz i7, 8gig of ram, and a 512MB Nvidia GeForce Card. The only thing that's top of the line in my rig is my SSD.
TL;DR1&3: This can run on common PCs at full speed, and some games just aren't playable at 60fps yet (God of War 2 for example)
someone please fix maximo army of zin!!!! ... permanent shadow around the character.
ReplyDeletewhy does hot shots tennis run extra slow? like 1/4 speed in relation to the other games?
ReplyDeletePeople comment like they are paying for emu dev team work and get crap.
ReplyDeleteFunny.
My dream: People who are still breastfeeding stop using emulators. There are not plenty of breasts around here to feed them directly in their mouth.
ReplyDeleteGOW2 alredy full speed check emuplace for settings
ReplyDeleteIdiots, most of you... Here are the names of the games I finished on my rig that is 3 years old. (some components bit more) while playing at 55-60 FPS speed. So please shut the fuck up. This emu isn't for noobs, idiots, clowns.

only two games were "demanding" in my experience. And those are "Shadow of Collossus" and "Tekken 5".
To add, they look better and play better, then add savegames, savestates, cheats, ability to record gameplay and take screenshots, edit controls however the heck you like, they load faster, can pause at anytime, can do a lot of other things while playing it (it being a "regular" program) and so much more. :p
So please shut the fuck up and enjoy if you can, it's not like anyone is forcing you. :p Out of several great emulators I'm using, IMO PCSX2 is by far the best.
And to several GoW whiny pricks... I finished them both... Although I finished GoW 2 with "ghost" bug... That is now fixed, it was awesome.
Oh yeah, all of those games needed some time to set up and almost all of them were played while using speed-hacks. Been following PCSX2 since 0.9.4 version so trust me, it came a long WAY since then.
And I agree with Anon #16. Yeah... They are paying heavy stuff for this emu (and others), they demand perfect emu to play it on Intel Celeron @ 800 Mhz and GeForce 4 MX 440-SE and maybe 256 SD RAM.
It doesn't require a "ultimate pc" most important component is CPU, go buy E8400 and OC it to 4GHZ and you're probably gonna be prepared for a lot of games to run smoothly (prolly with few speedhacks that shouldn't spoil gameplay at all). It costs something like 150$... There are new and prolly better CPU's for that price but I'm saying it only because it's a 4 year old CPU that wasn't even top notch when it got out. :p My 6000+ costs a lot less and it's 3.5 year old (and it was out on sales 4 or more years now), costs something like 60-70 bucks and to play most games decently with a little set-up... Or would you like devs to also set up those games, and maybe even play them for you too?
pcsc2 only uses 2 cores if u read d main page from d google project site. if dey sucessfully implemented to run on quad core stable now dat wud be awesome.
ReplyDelete@ Anon 20
ReplyDeleteLOL WTF? Where did you get the "mexican" part from the upper comments? Too much South Park for you mister/miss. Also, not that I'm standing up for anyone. But some people don't want/doesn't need to buy "better" pc. It's not always "can't/doesn't know how". And that totally uncalled for. No need for hostility. Neither from you, nor from whiny and dissatisfied pricks from above. Enjoy this great emu and have fun!
@ Animatrix
"pcsc2 only uses 2 cores if u read d main page from d google project site. if dey sucessfully implemented to run on quad core stable now dat wud be awesome."
pcsX2 IS optimized for 2 cores... optimizing it for quads would be too much of a trouble for devs to do, I mean MAJOR trouble... I've been following pcsx2 forums... They have it on their mind... but aren't really warmed up for it... Well IMO they should either completely give it up.. I mean every new pc generation doesn't only evolve in sense of increasing number of CPU cores... They are more powerful with each generation(new instruction sets, more L1, L2, L3 cache, better overclocking abilities etc).. Just take some of the new i7 quadcores and compare them with first intel generation quads ( I believe it was Core2Quad or something like that idk). They are WAY stronger. I'm just giving an example. IMO PCSX2 is optimized enough. Even I with my old and "shitty" rig I can play most games pretty decently. If not... Buy a new PC or buy PS2 slim.
For the rest. Buy this combo (I'm planing on buying it hopefully pretty soon) and I'm absolutely sure your games are gonna fly on it.
ASRock P67 EXTREME4 (150-200$)
Intel i5 2500k (210$)
maybe add a cooler Noctua NH-D14 (90$) if you really want to overclock the shit out of it... But I believe you can get something like 3.8Ghz on stock. With this cooler I believe 4.6GHz is possible. Now that's power.

Goran H.
Goran H. nicely said on #19 you got it down to a tee, some people just do not know what there talking about AT ALL, practically all games i have played and tried run at full speed or close to it besides the games you mentioned and gran turismo 3 and 4 of course lol and every game i have played looks outstanding in comparison with an actual ps2, with an internal resoloution at 5 or 6 times looks phenomenal. So i have no idea what these people are talking about when they say it looks shitty, they obviously dont know how to change settings ;)
ReplyDeletedont expect a 10 year old dell or shitty hp to run games well, as it is you also need a decent graphics card, people are probably trying to run this emu with onboard piece of shits.
ReplyDeleteneogeo games are better than most psx games lol
ReplyDelete@Anonymous #25
ReplyDeleteWhy are you talking about psx games when this is a psx2 emulator lol and you my friend have obviously not played alot of playstation games because there are "many" playstation 1 and 2 games that are fucking great.
@ Christopher
ReplyDeleteoff-topic... But since you played "a lot" of ps one games and I haven't really... could you recommend me some that are playable in co-op mode... my friend(s) comes from time to time to play stuff at my place and we are at shortage of co-op games... hard to find a decent co-op pc game (splitscreen mode) so mostly we play N64 games (yea, but some of those are fun too) and concerning ps2 games, I'm too lazy to download them just for one afternoon(played bit of Twisted Metal Black yesterday and had a blast)... So any recommendations? Non typical sports(I hate sports) and non fighting if possible(got bunch of 'em already). Some races per chance or maybe some co-op adventure? Idk... Thanks in advance.
well to be completely honest i played mostly single player games haha like the final fantasies, parasite eve 1or2 (great rpg game), another rpg was legend of mana that was 2 player once your able to recruit a team member and the second player controls the other character on the screen(not split screen) its a cool game nice gameplay. thats just a couple i play i have several others but sorry again im mostly into rpgs and strategy games. Not co op or multiplayers.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite genre is RPG and final fantasy series(mostly FF: X for me cause it was my first FF game and first game on this emu which is also first emu I used... so...) gets it's place (completely deservedly into top three) right after SW: KOTOR and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Concerning game companies.. again RPG ones... Bioware > Square Enix (Square-soft), Bethesda. Aside from that... Hack n' Slash (DMC series (Dante is coolest game character IMO), GoW, Darksiders) and bronze goes to Adventure-Platformer games (TR, PoP, Bloodrayne)... Idk.. I just love the "Top 3" idea for most things.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow now I'm gonna check out parasite eve 1/2 and legend of mana (was meaning too for a while).
P.S. Just finished FF II on epsxe. Took me something like 60 hours... Had a blast. Story > Gameplay > then "technicalities" in the sense of graphics and sound presentation. That's why I love JRPGs... While they are infinitely inferior (IMO) concerning gameplay (Turn Based gameplay gets boring after a while) and graphically it's behind, then there's the open world system etc.... They've got by far most engaging stories and characters... Only thing that can parry that is Bioware (they are also majestic in that sense as well)... OMG... KoTOR... Oh, my first lightsaber... I'm such a geek. XD
P.S. Pardon for the content of the text that might be boring or irritating for you (or some), I just felt like sharing. Enjoy gaming. Best (cause it's most immersive and rewarding) type of multimedia.
Regards.
slow bullsht
ReplyDeleteyea gotta love the jrpgs man but if you like rpgs and your like me where graphics dont matter ;) then parasite eve is your best friend, when i first got into that game when i was like 12 i could not put the controller down it was just one of thoses games where you are just too interested to stop lol Great great great gameplay, customizable weapons and and stats, and you also have something called parasite engery which is basically like magic sorta, its a action rpg/with turn based gameplay. Definately a game i would beat over and over haha
ReplyDeleteI kinda just said that I spent something like 60 hours into Final Fantasy II... Even though it's a remake(PS One), graphics aren't really better (maybe clearer / some new sprites and new midi file music)... it's still a game from '94... That was long time ago (I was 3 years old then XD)...
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, will be sure to try it. And by the way, you might check out "Parasite" (Kiseijuu). It's a manga, and even though I don't really like manga this one was fairly interesting. And you outta try Shin Megami Tensei games if you haven't.
Question... Have you played any "Tales of..." games?
yea ive heard of the parasite manga never got around to check it out though, but the shin megami games are outstandin ive played most if not all of them from the sega ports to ps2 persona series, devil series, ect ect. Persona 3 was always my favorite and the Nintendo ds one called shin megami tensei strange journey nice well played out story that keeps you thinking.
ReplyDeleteWell for psx, tales of phantasia was decent tales of destiny 1 and 2 were pretty good number 2 was better though. i forget the others, for ps2 tales of the abyss was alright, never played tales of legendia so i couldnt tell you on that one. Do you like non linear open map games? Ive been playing this ps2 game i had never heard of up until about a year ago, its called "Metal Saga" for PS2, its a customizable tank/rpg game, you definately have to try that one. Top 10 on my list for ps2.
So in case you played it, what can you tell me about SMT: Devil Summoner 1/2? And should I "bother" to play Persona 1/2. Haven't tried that DS one but I downloaded "Devil Survivor" (2nd one is coming out in 2012), but just tried it for few minutes. Will get to play it one day. lol
ReplyDeleteConcerning "Tales of..." games... those three are only ones (that I'm currently aware of) that are available with english subs(or dubs :p) except for Symphonia for GC. I want to try them cause I notice many people mention it when they want to express how FF series is overrated.
There's nothing better then non-linear open-world game that is well build. My favorite game of all times is one. ES IV: Oblivion. Shame main story quest "sucked that much" (in comparison to the rest of the game). Can't wait for Skyrim. Tank / RPG game? Sound interesting... Will check it out. Although from the simple glance at review etc... Well, will see for myself.
Damn having me pull out all my ps2 games lol this is great i had forgotten how many games i actually have, but anyways Devil summoner is just a side story to the shin megami series, but its also alot different in many ways its action/rpg not turn based like alot of the series, and you can obtain and summon up to 2 creatures in your party not just one, decent story i guess, cut scenes drag on a little. didnt play all the way through on either 1 or 2 but there fun to mess around with for a while. i tried persona 2 innocent sin for psp and that was more like a final fantasy tactics idk try it out if you enjoy tactic strategy games. And yea oblivion is a good game it just lacked some things so i checked up on some mods for it because i mostly game on my pc and there are probably thousands of mods its crazy from texture and fx mods to new races and skills quests whatever you want its really cool.
ReplyDeleteWell, concerning Oblivion only on the original game and official expansions (Knights of Nine Box Set and Shivering Isles) I've completed 219 quests (I couldn't do two of them due to my choices)... and it took me freaking 149 hours to do it all. The game was (and still is) freaking HUGE that it's almost like offline MMORPG. Not counting in the largest mod community (IMO) of 'em all. I did those 149 hours in little less then ten days (not sure whether to gloat or grief XD). It's most immersive game in my experience due to it's size (it had something like 9 factions and each of them had (actually 5 of them had) their own series of quests... and I just love the games that include an Arena in them(like in KOTOR) but Oblivion... What can I say that the best game ever... So much content in just 4GBs. And graphics were also amazing for the time... I hope Skyrim is gonna continue the tradition.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow I believe this conversation reached it's end... This is gonna be 36th comment... so yeah. Regards.
