DOSBox SVN r3595 is released. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD. However, it is not restricted to running only games. In theory, any MS-DOS or PC-DOS (referred to commonly as "DOS") application should run in DOSBox, but the emphasis has been on getting DOS games to run smoothly, which means that communication, networking and printer support are still in early development.
DOSBox also comes with its own DOS-like command prompt. It is still quite rudimentary and lacks many of the features found in MS-DOS, but it is sufficient for installing and running most DOS games.

Jei you made a mistake: You have replace SDL.DLL with the official version 1.2.14.0 which is no good for DOSBox. The official DOSBox 0.73 used a custom version of SDL.DLL that is based on 1.2.13.0 but the devs have added patches/fixes to the SDL source they use.
ReplyDeleteBetter ask Nichole about this. I reported this a while back. Check the comments here: http://www.emucr.com/2010/04/dosbox-svn-r3586.html
Maybe if you can contact the DOSBox devs you can ask them for and updated SDL.DLL that will have the patches that are needed by DOSBox.
Please include the custom SDL.DLL that is included in the official DOSBox 0.73 installer.

Thanks for your comments. Fixed!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the double post above. I got an error when submitted the first comment and I thought that it was rejected.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I saw there is already a private 0.74 rc3 beta, probably only delivered to beta testers. But thanks to you we can all enjoy the latest advancements in DOSBox.
