bsnes Public WIP v059.01 is released.bsnes is an emulator for the Super Famicom and SNES video game systems. The purpose of the emulator is a bit different from other emulators: it focuses on accuracy, debugging functionality, and clean code.
bsnes Public WIP v059.01 Changelog:
The developer said:
Source and binary are included. For those not used to these:
- get the DLLs from the official release
- this isn't profiled, so it's 15-20% slower than official releases
http://byuu.org/temp/bsnes_v059_wip01.tar.bz2
Changes:
- added up button to the loader window. Sorry, Tango doesn't have a folder-up icon, so it's just an up arrow
- hid new folder button except on folder selection windows (eg path selection)
- removed options button -> "Assign Modifiers as Keys"
- added input.modifierEnable to the configuration file. Set it to false to completely bypass all support for modifiers, use it to map modifiers directly as though they are keys
- fixed the cheat code O(n^2) issue, loading games should be as fast as v058 now
- added the NTSC/PAL 6:5 and 7:5 scale for 5x scale w/aspect correction enabled
- re-added group assignment and unassignment to the input configuration settings tab
- added "Mouse Button", "Mouse X-axis", "Mouse Y-axis" and "Stop" buttons when you are performing an actual assignment; replaces the non-obvious mapping method previously used
Heavy testing would be appreciated, but it's not super important. I plan to release this as v060 tomorrow, and then fork the codebase. Not going to set anything in stone, but the idea is v060n will be the stable series for quite a while. Anywhere from 3-12 months, probably. Depends on how things go.
Once this is done, v060 will only get bugfixes, and absolutely no feature changes. I'm going to include an empty bsnes.cfg file with it and default to DirectInput instead of RawInput. The source archive will have all of the extra libraries inside of it.
