Osmose v0.9.0 Beta is released.Osmose is a Sega Master System / Gamegear console emulator. The emulator is released as open source project, under GPL license and exists for both Linux and windows.
Osmose Features:
- Open GL based GUI.
- SMS emulation: Good compatibility. At this stage, the emulator can run* 96% of commercial games and public demos, except games that relies on codemaster mapper, which work but does not have proper video mode emulated.
- Game Gear emulation : Good compatibility. At this stage, the emulator can run 98.0% of game gear ROMS.
- SN76489 Sound is supported, but still needs work.
- support. for .ZIP .SMS and .GG format.
- Video filters: monochrom, scanline, scale2x, bilinear, nearest neighbour, scale2xscanline (fullscreen option always available).
- Pad(keyboard or joystick mapped), Sport Paddle (mouse mapped) emulation.
- PAL/NTSC Timing.
- Japanese/Export console.
- In game Screenshots, GFX rip, sound shot.
- Configurable (file edition) keyboard configuration.
- Joystick support.
Osmose v0.9.0 Beta changelog:
- Osmose is now a GUI based application. A basic OpenGL toolkit was written for Osmose since tested toolkit were unable to get 60Hz refresh guaranted. Maybe will i try QT libraries. GUI was Osmose's most asked feature.
- Remove FPS and RDTSC instruction non portable code.
- No more command line options are needed. All is done from GUI now.
- Osmose configuration is now stored into $HOME/.osmose directory under Linux.Config file is named osmose.conf
- Configuration fileand key mapping has changed too.
- Joystick 1 is actually used with player 1.
